Tool & Die Shop

The skilled tradesmen at Riverside Brass excel in the design, building, and repair of hundreds of our trim dies.

The expertise of this division has expanded to undertake in-house production of patterns and core boxes, essential tooling for the foundry process. Working closely with foundry staff, our tool & die division can work quickly to ensure exceptional precision and consistency in the castings we produce.

Pattern development generally begins with the supply or creation of digital information to provide solid models of the bronze or aluminum shapes to be created. This tooling is meticulously machined on our state-of-the-art CNC mills, and electrical discharge wire and electrode machines. Our CNC equipment can reproduce extraordinarily complex shapes, capable of rendering more than 40,000 shapes per side.

This tooling, along with the accompanying trim dies creates the most accurate tooling possible. This accuracy becomes evident when one experiences the tight dimensional tolerances that are achieved on the finished castings produced at Riverside Brass.

The ability to produce our own patterns and dies also provides us with complete flexiblity in meeting customer needs for rapid turnaround on new castings with onsite first-article inspection. The tool & die shop makes Riverside Brass a truly integrated one-stop source for casting excellence.

State-Of-The-Art

Riverside Brass was among the first North American foundries to invest in equipping its own tool & die shop.

The foundry originally decided to open the tool & die shop to better provide service on the proliferation of trim dies used to clean the parting lines on our castings. Trim dies are much more efficient and repeatable than conventional grinding in the trimming process.
